The mission of Jackson Bottom is to connect water, wildlife, and people. Jackson Bottom’s long-range goals and program objectives focus on key areas of wildlife and habitat preservation, education, passive recreation, water quality management, and research.
Jackson Bottom began collaborating with igivewhereilive.net in 2005 to promote philanthropy and citizen involvement (volunteerism) among Washington County residents. The partnership has proven successful. During July 2008, Jackson Bottom was one of the organizations with the most funds donated at igivewhereilive.net, totaling over $1,000.

iGiveWhereiLive.net is a public education campaign that promotes philanthropy. The iGiveWhereiLive.net collaboration includes established non-profit organizations whose missions result in improving the quality of life for residents of Washington County.
All eligible groups will meet the following criteria:
The organization is qualified as a tax-exempt charitable organization within the meaning of section 501(c)3 of the IRS code.
The organization is not a local chapter of a national entity. Administrative operation is independent of such an entity and governance is maintained locally.
The organization has been in operation for at least two years during which it has provided a service of public benefit to Washington County residents.
In addition, eligible groups will also demonstrate they meet one of the following criteria:
The non-profit is based inside Washington County. In the case of organizations with multiple sites, eligibility is determined by the location of the administrative offices.
70% or more of the organization’s services or resources are being invested in Washington County for the public benefit of county residents.
Eligible organizations will demonstrate that their mission is to provide a service that is of public benefit to Washington County residents. Public benefit is defined as work that benefits the general public at large in Washington County or a specific city or defined area within the county. Groups organized around fee-based membership or that prohibit participation based on religious practice are ineligible. As defined in IRS code, public benefit charities demonstrate the following:
The organization is a nonprofit corporation, association or collaboration.
The organization’s purposes are exempt and is organized and operated exclusively for the exempt purposes.
No private person or corporation is profiting frοm the group.
Lobbying or political activity is neither a core service or necessary in achieving the organization’s mission.
