The mission of Essential Health clinic is to improve the health of the community by providing access to high-quality basic, urgent medical services to residents of Washington County who have the fewest resources and the greatest barriers to care. A collaborative effort of the public and private sectors, the clinic provides care in a respectful, compassionate and culturally sensitive manner.

The number of uninsured in Washington County is at least 60,000 and growing! Not having health insurance is a problem for many reasons: uninsured people are more likely to become ill or die than people with health coverage. Poor health leads to loss of productivity in the workplace and at school. Small, manageable medical problems can turn into much larger, more dangerous, more expensive problems if treatment is delayed. Medical bills are among the leading causes of personal bankruptcy. About 18,000 people die every year because they lack health insurance.

Essential Health Clinic provides free services thanks to volunteer medical professionals, interpreters, clerical support, etc. We are not making huge changes in the healthcare system. We are doing our best to serve people in need right now and to maximize the efficiency of the current healthcare system. We make a difference one person at a time.
